A one-day Online – Virtual Classroom Live Infection Management Awareness Course

This course will prepare the student for the realistic challenges in dealing with biological hazards such as blood and other bodily fluids (e.g., trauma scene), sewage and other Category 3 water scenarios, virus outbreaks like the recent Coronavirus SARS-2 (COVID-19) and fungi (mould). Topics that will be covered will include:

  • Legal duties including COSHH Regulations and PPE
  • Containment principles
  • Ventilation
  • Filtration
  • Cleaning procedures
  • Antimicrobials
  • Fogging
  • Managing biological waste
  • Determining levels of cleanliness (e.g., ATP)
  • Discussion on what may qualify someone to be deemed “competent” at carrying out this kind of work
  • Insurance
  • Counselling

Those engaging in biological hazard cleanup work MUST learn how to ensure that their cleaning procedures do not spread contaminants and to protect themselves and others from infection.

Further training is recommended. This is an introductory course.

N.B. This course is a live online classroom event. Trainees will need an email address to receive the login code, a computer, internet connection and register with Zoom (online meeting programme).

08:45  Login: Intro and technical instruction regarding microphones, questions etc. N.B. There will be regular Q&A opportunities throughout the sessions.

16:30 Final Q&A and

17:00 Course Close.  Post course documents, videos and exams distributed electronically.

On successful completion of exams the certificates will be sent electronically.
